Sam Johnson Ssemaganda is a journalist, writer, poet, activist and inspirational speaker. With over eight years media experience, Sam is with a rare passion for the promotion and protection of the rights of women and children. He now works with NBS TV as a news consultant .He is the founder of Black candle Writers, a writer’s organization whose main objective is to nurture and promote African/Ugandan literature. He is also the Concept manager at Calidad Images, a young but fast growing media production company in Uganda. Sam strongly believes that; “if you don’t change your local community , it matters little your efforts to change the world.” His loud voice to bring to light the plight of women and, the youth and children is unstoppable on TV, radio and several panels and the issues he raises in his poems in the Daily Monitor, local and international journals and magazines are hair-raising. With a degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Nkumba University, this budding diplomat has also studied journalism and media, acquired training in screen and creative writing and HIV/AIDS peer education. At Life and Hope Uganda, Sam’s major role is to represent the organization on different social platforms and networking social circles. He also uses his skills to inspire young people in the area of career guidance, sharing informative knowledge on HIV/AIDS, offering guidance on concept development among other tasks related to media publicity related tasks.
